[Solved] How to Download Book Purchased from Google Books to Read Offline PDF without DRM

Is there any method to download purchased Google books and read them offline as pdf documents? If you have purchased books on Google Play, you may want to download the purchased Google books to transfer it to your eReaders or Tablets for a better reading experience.

Since Google employs the DRM scheme to encrypt the ebooks, most of the purchased Google books are protected by Adobe’s DRM. This article will show you how to download a purchased Google book to pdf and remove Digital Right Management (DRM) so that you can read it on any device.

Download purchased Books from Google books

Step 1. Log in your Google Play account and go to My Books on Google Play page.

Step 2: Click on My Books on Google Play under My Library in the left column.

Step 3: Under each book cover, you can see the book title and three dots. Click the three dots to display a menu.

Step 4: Select the Download PDF option from the menu.

Step 5: If the downloaded file is in PDF format, then the process is completed; If the downloaded file is in ACSM format then you have to convert the ACSM File to PDF.

Open .acsm File and Download as PDF format using Adobe Digital Editions (ADE)

An .acsm file is not an actual eBook but just a file download link, follow below steps to convert .acsm to .pdf format.

Step 1: Download and install Adobe Digital Editions.

Step 2: Open Adobe Digital Editions and input Adobe ID to authorize the current computer. If you do not have Adobe ID, then click create an Adobe account to register. Enter the Adobe ID and password, click on the Authorize button.

Note: The Adobe ID must be the same email address as your Google login ID.

Step 3: Drag and drop .acsm file into Adobe Digital Editions. When Adobe Digital Editions runs, it will automatically download the corresponding PDF books.

Step 4: After download completed, choose one book in the main window, right-click and select Item Info, a new dialog box will pop up to shows the location of the downloaded PDF file. Normally it will be located at below path:

For Mac: Users\ Your computer name\ Digital Editions ...

Remove DRM using Calibre with DeDRM Plugin

Step 1: Download and install Calibre.

Step 2: Download and unzip DeDRM Tools.

Step 3: Open Calibre and click the Preferences > Plugins > Load Plugin from File.

Step 4: Navigate to the DeDRM_calibre_plugin folder and choose DeDRM_plugin.zip. Click Yes on the virus warning that pops up.

Step 5: Restart the Calibre.

Step 6: If you using Kindle, open Calibre, go to Preferences > Plugins and expand File Type Plugins. Double-click on the DeDRM entry, choose e-Ink Kindle eBooks to add the device’s serial number.

Step 7: Drag and drop PDF file into Calibre’s main window. DRM gets removed after importing books into Calibre’s library.
