Locking Snapchat on your iPhone or iPad with Face ID, Touch ID, or a password is possible using the Shortcuts app. This method works on iOS 12 or later, and it’s simple to set up. Here’s how:
- Go to the App Store and download “Shortcuts,” as it might not be pre-installed on all devices.
- Launch Shortcuts, go to the “Automation” tab, and tap the Add (+) button in the top right corner.
- Choose Create Personal Automation to begin.
- Scroll down to find the App option.
- Tap Choose, type “Snapchat,” then select it and tap Done.
- Ensure Is Opened is checked (not Is Closed).
- Tap Next to proceed.
- Tap Add Action, search for Lock Screen, and select it.
- Tap Next again.
- Turn off Ask Before Running to prevent the device from prompting you each time the automation activates. Confirm by selecting Don’t Ask.
- Tap Done to save the setup.
Now, whenever Snapchat opens, the lock screen will appear, blocking unauthorized access.
To access Snapchat, use Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode based on your device’s settings. Once you unlock it, Snapchat will be accessible until you exit the app or switch to another one.
If you no longer want Snapchat to lock automatically, simply go back to the Automation tab in Shortcuts, select the automation you created, and either toggle it off or delete it.
Using these steps, you’ll secure Snapchat effectively, keeping your messages and snaps private.
