Google Maps on Android offers a powerful yet often overlooked feature: the ability to create collections of places. These collections act like personalized bookmarks for locations, allowing you to easily revisit them or share them with others.
Whether you’re planning a business trip or just exploring your local area, here’s how to make the most of this feature:
Table of Contents
Step 1: Access Your Collections
- Open the Google Maps app on your Android device.
- Tap the Saved tab at the bottom of the screen.
Step 2: Create a New Collection
- Within the Your list section, tap the New list command.
- Give your collection a descriptive name and add an optional description.
- Choose the privacy settings for your collection:
- Private: Only you can access it.
- Shared: Share it with specific people.
- Public: Anyone can find and view it.
Step 3: Add Places to Your Collection
- Search for a location or navigate to it on the map.
- Tap the location’s name or icon.
- Select Save and choose the relevant collection.
If you’ve created a shared collection, others can contribute:
- Let colleagues, friends, or family members add their favorite spots.
- Collaborate on lists of restaurants, attractions, or essential stops.
