How to Backup Sticky Notes on Windows

Sticky Notes, a handy tool in Windows, allows you to jot down reminders or notes, and have them at your fingertips. This guide provides two methods to back up your Sticky Notes, ensuring they are safe and can be accessed on different computers.

Method 1: Synchronize with Microsoft Account

Microsoft has integrated a cloud sync feature into the Sticky Notes app. This feature allows you to synchronize your notes with your Microsoft account. Here are the steps:

  1. Click on the gear-shaped “Settings” icon in the Sticky Notes window.
  2. Click on “Sign In” and log into your Microsoft account. This action will synchronize your Sticky Notes with your Microsoft account.
  3. Log into any device using the same Microsoft account to access your Sticky Notes.

Method 2: Manual Backup via plum.sqlite File

In addition to automatic backup, you can manually back up your Sticky Notes. This method involves duplicating the plum.sqlite file. Here are the steps:

  1. Go to the following path: C:\Users\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState
  2. Right-click the plum.sqlite file and select Copy. You can save your Sticky Notes backup in a location of your choice. Manual Backup via plum.sqlite File

To restore your Sticky Notes from the backup, place the plum.sqlite file back in its original location. Upon opening Sticky Notes, your notes will reappear on your desktop in their original positions.

Note: Replacing an existing plum.sqlite file will erase any notes currently stored on the device.
