Can Windows 11 Notepad’s New Table Feature and Smarter AI Make Editing Less Stressful?

Notepad is adding simple tables and smart writing tools. This change makes it easier for everyone to organize information and get writing help .

  • Tables are now part of Notepad. You can add a table by clicking a grid icon in the menu. Just pick the number of rows and columns you need. It’s similar to how you add tables in Microsoft Word.
  • If you like typing, you can also make tables by using Markdown. It lets you type special symbols to create a table. If you want to change a table, click on it or use the Table menu — you can add or take away rows and columns.
  • These changes help everyone put words, numbers, lists, and ideas in neat boxes so it’s easy to read.

How does AI help you write in Notepad? Is streaming AI faster?

AI (artificial intelligence) tools in Notepad can help you write better and faster.

  • There are three tools: Write, Rewrite, and Summarize. “Rewrite” now shows words and sentences as they are written by AI. You don’t have to wait for all the words to finish, you see them appear one by one.
  • The streaming result works only for “Rewrite” and on special computers called Copilot+ PCs.
  • To use these tools, you need to sign in with your Microsoft account. On Copilot+ PCs, some AI runs on your computer, but “Write” and “Summarize” may still need the internet.
  • If you do not have a Copilot+ PC, these AI tools may not work offline.

Good and Bad Things About The Update

  • Good: You can make tables quickly, organize your notes better, and get AI help as you write .
  • Bad: Not all features work on every computer. You need to sign in, and sometimes must be online.

Who Gets These Features?

These updates are for people who test early versions of Windows 11 (Insiders on Canary and Dev Channels) and have Notepad version 11.2510.6.0 or newer.

This new Notepad is easier for everyone, even young learners, and adds friendly ways to organize and get creative help with words—all while keeping things simple and clear .
