[Solved] How to Fix Hulu Connection “Error code: 5005” During Playback

Hulu users are reported playback failed with error code 5005 especially on Xbox One and PC. The Detail error message as below:

Solution 1: Common Workarounds

Perform the following basic fixes that work in addressing most of the Hulu errors:

  • Ensure Internet connection is functioning optimally as per the recommendations stated in Hulu Help Center.
    • 3.0 Mbps for Hulu’s Streaming Library
    • 8.0 Mbps for live streams
    • 16.0 Mbps for 4K content
  • Close the Hulu app (Android | iOS | Microsoft) and restart it.
  • Switch the internet connection or using a wired network.
  • Power-cycle the device and the router or modem.
  • Reinstall Hulu app.
  • Try streaming using a different device or browser. If Hulu works on other browsers, try clearing the cache and cookies from the browser (Refer to next Solution steps)

Solution 2: Delete Cookies and Clear Cache

Step 1: Open the browser and click on the three buttons on the top-right corner.

Step 2: Go to More Tools > Clear Browsing Data…

Step 3: Select the Time range to All time and click on the Clear data button to start to clear the cache and cookies that have corrupted.

Step 1: Go to Hulu account page.

Step 2: If you are getting any kind of alert on the account, follow the instructions given.

Step 3: Log out from the Hulu account.

Step 4: Clear the cookie from your web browser.

Step 5: Clear the cookies browser.

Step 6: Log in again.

Solution 4: Verify Hulu Server Status

Solution 5: Update Web Browser

This solution steps application for PC only.

Update Google Chrome

Step 1: Start Google Chrome.

Step 2: Click on the Action button (three-dot icon) in the top right corner.

Step 3: Go to Help > About Google Chrome.

Step 4: Chrome will begin to scan to check if a new version is available.

Step 5: You will be prompted to install the new update if available.

Step 6: Chrome browser will need to relaunch.

Update Mozilla Firefox

Step 1: Start Firefox.

Step 2: Click on the Action button from the top-right corner.

Step 3: Go to Help > About Firefox.

Update Firefox browser.

Step 4: Click on Restart to update Firefox (if a new version is available) and wait for the process to complete. Click Yes to grant administrative privileges if UAC (User Account Control) prompted.

Step 5: Firefox will need to restart after the update installed.

Step 1: Start the Opera browser.

Step 2: Click on the Opera logo for menu options.

Step 3: Click on Update & Recovery… option.

Step 5: Updates will be automatically installed if any available.
