Solved: How do I disable Azure AD active user account using block sign-in

Problem Symptom

What’s the command or the steps in Azure AD Portal to disable an active user account instead of deleting it just like checking the Account is disabled option in Windows Server on-premises. Follow the below steps to disable Azure AD active user account using block sign in setting in Azure Active Directory admin center and Microsoft 365 admin center.

Step 1: Go to Azure Active Directory admin center.

Step 2: Click the Users option at the sidebar.

Step 3: Click on the user that you like to disable.

Step 5: Scroll down to locate Block sign in option in the Settings section.

Step 6: Toggle Block sign in option to Yes.

Step 1: Go to Microsoft 365 admin center.

Step 2: Expand the Users list and click on the Active users option.
