Setup Steps for Broadcom WiFi on MacOS Sonoma

To install Broadcom WiFi on a hypothetical MacOS Sonoma, you’d follow a streamlined process to ensure compatibility and modify system settings. This guide simplifies the installation, detailing prerequisites and a step-by-step approach for a hassle-free setup.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure you have a Broadcom WiFi card compatible with MacOS Sonoma.
  • Have your MacOS Sonoma installation ready.
  • Be familiar with the MacOS terminal and system configurations.

Installation Steps

  1. Gather necessary tools: IOSkywalk, IO80211FamilyLegacy, AirPortBrcmFixup, corecaptureElCap, Hackintool, and Open Core Legacy Patcher IO80211ElCap.
  2. Launch Open Core Legacy Patcher and navigate to ‘Kexts’.
  3. Select ‘Wifi’, then ‘FamilyLegacy’ and ‘iOSkywalkFamily’, and unzip them. Different broadband services may require other kexts.
  4. Use Opencore Configurator to mount the ESP and place the Kext folder in the EFI OC folder.
  5. Open Config.plist, add the new kext entries under the Minkernal tab, and set the Kernel version to 23.0.0.
  6. Block iOS Skywalk by adding the kexts to the Block section under the Kernel tab.
  7. Disable the secure boot model in the Security tab and Miscellaneous tab.
  8. Go to the NVRAM tab and select the last DUID.
  9. Add ‘Boot AR’ and disable SIP in the NVRAM tab.
  10. Go to boot-args and add the value alcid=1 amfi=0x80, go to csr-active-config and add the value, 67000000.
  11. Save changes, eject the mounted ESP, and restart your PC.
  12. Reset NVRAM during restart.
  13. Use Open Core Patcher for post-install root patching and follow on-screen prompts.
  14. Restart your system and reset NVRAM again.
