MC1526712 Power Platform: Information about the 2026 time zone changes in Canada

Summary

  • Power Platform is being updated to reflect Canada’s 2026 time zone changes for Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia.
  • The main user impact is on date/time handling in specific Power Platform components, especially where regional time zone rules are used.
  • Power Apps model-driven apps and Power Pages may display or calculate dates/times differently after the regional time zone changes.
  • Power Automate Desktop scheduled triggers and date/time actions may run with incorrect local-time behavior unless machines are updated and temporary time zone selections are used where needed.
  • Administrators should keep Windows, browsers, and desktop-flow machines updated and guide users to select the appropriate new regional time zone once available.

Microsoft Message

Power Platform services are being updated to support the 2026 time zone changes in Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia. This is a general awareness message to support the changes and complements MC1510951 — Windows updates are available for 2026 time zone changes in Canada.

Rollout schedule

Updates will be delivered by service to support the November 1, 2026, time zone transition. Availability will vary by service.

Power Automate Desktop (RPA): Scheduled trigger updates are planned to roll out November 5 through November 23, 2026.

How does this affect me?

Impact varies by component and time zone configuration:

  • Power Apps (Model-driven Apps): Selecting a new regional time zone may change how existing dates and times are displayed where the old and new rules differ.
  • Power Apps (Canvas Apps): No impact is anticipated, as date-time behavior depends on the device.
  • Power Pages: From November 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026, dates converted by Dataverse and date-based filters may be one hour behind. From 2027, dates and times recorded during past standard-time periods may also display one hour incorrectly. Dates rendered directly in the browser are not affected by the identified issue.
  • Power Automate Process Mining: No impact is anticipated, as date-time behavior depends on the device.
  • Power Automate Desktop (RPA): Beginning November 1, scheduled triggers using the existing Mountain, Pacific, or Central time zones may run one hour off from the intended local time in affected regions. The Get current date and time action also has limitations involving unavailable new time zone options and outdated time zone data.

What action do I need to take?

Keep device operating systems and browsers updated and use the correct local time zone setting. After the relevant service update is available, affected users should select the appropriate new region-specific time zone in their app or service settings, where applicable.

Power Automate Desktop (RPA): Install the October 2026 Windows time zone update on machines running desktop flows. Until the new regional time zones are available for scheduled triggers, use these temporary settings:

  • Alberta: Select “Saskatchewan.”
  • British Columbia: Select “Arizona.”
  • Manitoba: Select “Bogota, Lima, Quito.”
