Compliance considerations

Question: Does the change alter how existing customer data is accessed?

Answer: Yes. GitHub Copilot metrics will be on by default in Viva Insights for eligible tenants. Organizations that did not previously opt in will begin exposing these metrics to users who already have access to the relevant reports. Existing roles, permissions, and privacy settings continue to determine who can view the data.

Question: Does the change include an admin control?

Answer:  Yes. The existing public preview opt-in setting in Viva Insights web app for GitHub Copilot will be retired. After rollout, admins will no longer need to use this setting to enable GitHub Copilot metrics.
