How does this affect me?
Associates can record the specific person from a customer’s organization who acts on the organization’s behalf across orders, quotations, and pickups. Merchants can also control which contacts are authorized to place or collect on-account orders, helping reduce the risk of unauthorized purchases.
This release enables:
Contacts on the customer details page: A new Contacts section on the customer details page in Store Commerce displays all contacts associated with a customer account. Associates with the appropriate permissions can add new contacts, edit existing contacts, and deactivate contacts that are no longer valid. Changes are synchronized with Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations in real time.
Stamping a contact on a transaction: After a customer is added to the cart, the associate can select a contact from that customer’s contact list and associate the contact with the transaction. The selected contact identifies the individual acting on behalf of the customer’s organization. This capability is supported for:
- Cash-and-carry transactions
- Customer orders
- Quotations
- Return orders
Receipts and printed documents: The contact’s name is printed on receipts and other order documents, providing a clear reference for both the retailer and the business customer.
Please note that this feature is permission-controlled. Administrators assign the appropriate permissions to roles that require the ability to manage contacts.
