Starting in mid-October 2026, Microsoft Purview will remove the pay-as-you-go (PAYG) billing requirement for inline collection and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies that protect supported interactions with unmanaged cloud apps in Microsoft Edge for Business.
This change simplifies deployment and administration of inline protection in Edge for Business by removing the Azure billing subscription requirement for this specific scenario. Existing protection capabilities, policy behavior, and supported activities remain unchanged.
This update changes the billing requirement previously announced in MC1154787.
The rollout will occur progressively. Until the change reaches your tenant, the existing pay-as-you-go requirement may still appear in the Microsoft Purview portal and policy cmdlets.
