MC1466298 Updated consent for Microsoft communications to users

We’re updating the “Microsoft communications to users” consent setting in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

This update expands how Microsoft delivers Tips and Tricks communications so users can receive helpful, product focused guidance not only by email, but also on other platforms where they already spend time, such as LinkedIn. These communications are designed to help users get more value from the Microsoft products they’re already licensed to use.

This change is limited to a small, approved set of tenants and does not affect the broader Microsoft 365 customer base at this time. Please see the Additional Terms for more information.

Who is affected

  • Only a limited set of pre-approved tenants participating in this update.
  • All other tenants are not impacted.

What will happen

  • When the updated consent is rolled out, your current choice—to allow or disallow Tips and Tricks communications to users in your organization—will remain unchanged .
  • If your organization has already allowed “Tips and Tricks” communications, those messages may now be delivered through:
    • Email
    • Additional platforms such as LinkedIn
  • If your organization has disallowed these communications, there is no change .
  • There is no change to licensing or product functionality.

Action required / Recommendations

  • No action is required.
  • Your existing admin choice for “Microsoft communications to users” remains unchanged.
  • Optionally, you can:
    • Review the current setting in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
    • Inform users that they can manage their own preferences.

Individual users can opt out at any time from Settings & Privacy on their My Account dashboard.
