Project Plan 5 and Project Online Essentials reach end of sale on May 1, 2026 (Project Online Essentials is already off the market). The Project Online cloud service fully retires on Sept 30, 2026 – after that, it shuts down. There’s no immediate impact for current users, but admins must plan transitions now.
Next Steps:
- If you use Project Plan 5: Move to Planner and Project Plan 3 (includes Project desktop + Planner Premium features).
- If you use Project Online Essentials: Shift to Planner and Project Plan 1 for Planner Premium & online project access, or get Project Server CALs (Client Access Licenses) if only on-prem Project Server access is needed.
- Act now: Audit current licenses, back up Project Online data, and notify users. Update your internal documentation & governance policies ahead of these deadlines to ensure a smooth transition.
