It’s February 2026, and the desktop computer world is settling into a new normal. StatCounter’s latest numbers show Windows 10 is shrinking fast, while Windows 11 is now the main Windows choice for most people.

What the OS numbers say (all devices)

Across all devices (phones, tablets, and computers), Android is in first place at 35.87%, and Windows is second at 31.37%.​

iOS is still strong at 17.01%, while Apple’s desktop systems show up as OS X at 3.43% and macOS at 2.31%.​

What the desktop numbers say

On desktop computers only, Windows stays far ahead at 66.83%.​

After that come “Unknown” at 16.59%, OS X at 7.3%, macOS at 4.92%, Linux at 2.88%, and Chrome OS at 1.48%.​

Windows 11 vs Windows 10 (desktop)

Inside the Windows desktop share, Windows 11 is now about 72.78%, while Windows 10 is down to 26.27%.

Older versions are close to zero in real-world use: Windows 7 is 0.61%, Windows XP is 0.19%, Windows 8.1 is 0.09%, and Windows 8 is 0.04%.​

Browser share: Chrome stays on top

Across all devices, Chrome leads with 68.98%, Safari is second at 16.39%, Edge is 5.46%, and Firefox is 2.29%.​

If the focus is desktop browsers only, Chrome is even higher at 73.39%, Edge is 10.99%, Safari is 6.14%, and Firefox is 4.19%.
