Placing and Buying the Sawmill
If your map has one, just stroll over to it and hit that wrench icon. For about 300,000, if you change your mind later, you can sell it back through the build menu—just know you won’t get all your cash back.
I’ve heard some players have issues getting wood into certain sawmills due to glitches. If that’s you, hang tight for a patch. I’m running version 1.2 right now; newer versions might have fixed these bugs.
Types of Sawmills
There are three different sawmills available:
- Main Sawmill: Your go-to for basic operations.
- Miser Sawmill: More efficient and can make prefab walls.
- Small Sawmill: Perfect for smaller farms.
You can find these under the factories section when you’re in build mode.
Production Inputs for Sawmills
What do you need to feed your sawmill? Just wood—any type will do! Even those oddly shaped trees can be used. To dump wood into the small sawmill, just drop it at the designated spot. For other sawmills, you may need to hit ‘R’ to sell wood before it goes in.
Using the Sawmill Production
Activating production is simple! You can access it through:
- The main menu.
- The production point itself.
- The map—just click on the production and hit manage.
Once you’re in, you’ll see various products like planks and wood beams that you can create from your wood input. Make sure you keep an eye on your materials; if they run low, you’ll see a red icon indicating something’s missing.
Products from the Sawmill
After running your sawmill for a while (about 24 hours), you’ll have several products ready:
- Pallets of long planks
- Regular planks
- Wood chips (which can be sold too)
- Wood beams
- Prefab walls
Selling these products is straightforward—just find a buyer and offload them!
Moving Pallets Around and Profitability
Pallets will spawn at specific points depending on which sawmill you’re using. You can sell them directly or use them in other productions around your farm.
Profitability varies based on how efficiently you manage inputs and outputs. Selling directly might give you less cash due to fees, but distributing them automatically can save time.
That’s a wrap on this guide! With these tips, you’re well on your way to mastering the sawmill in Farming Simulator 25.
