Baleful Fragments are crucial for upgrading your gear in Diablo 4. You need them to Temper, Enchant, or Imprint your items with powerful stats and properties that can define your build.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you farm Baleful Fragments effectively:
- Farm Infernal Hordes Compasses by completing Nightmare Dungeons or defeating Blood Maidens in Helltides.
- Fill your Consumables inventory with as many Infernal Hordes Compasses as possible.
- Run the highest tier Infernal Hordes Compass you can handle.
- At the end of each Infernal Hordes wave, choose the gear chest and spend all your Burning Aether on it.
- Collect all the Legendary gear that drops from the chest.
- Salvage the Legendary gear that doesn’t have a Greater Affix to obtain Baleful Fragments.
- Repeat steps 3-6 until you have a satisfactory amount of Baleful Fragments.
This method is more efficient than running Helltides and opening Tormented Chests. Infernal Hordes missions are short, and you’ll acquire more Legendary gear this way.
Once you’ve salvaged your excess Legendary gear, the Baleful Fragments will automatically be stored in the Stock Goods section of your Inventory’s Stats and Materials tab. The Occultist and Blacksmith will use these fragments for:
- Weapon Imprint Aspect (5 fragments per imprint)
- Weapon Enchant Item (15 fragments per enchant)
- Weapon Tempering (2 fragments per temper)
Keep in mind that you’ll need a significant number of Baleful Fragments, especially if your build uses multiple weapons. However, Unique Items don’t require these fragments, so consider using them if they suit your playstyle.
By following this guide, you’ll be well on your way to amassing a healthy stock of Baleful Fragments and unleashing the true potential of your gear in Diablo 4.
