How to Monitor Virtual IP Current Bandwidth Utilization using FortiView Destination Firewall Objects

This article describes how to monitor Virtual IP current bandwidth utilization using FortiView Destination Firewall Objects.

Scope

FortiGate.

Solution

Realtime bandwidth utilization, Sessions, Source IP, etc., of configured and active Virtual IP, can be monitored using FortiView Destination Firewall Objects.

To enable, add Widget or Monitor under Dashboard or FortiView.

Note that this will only show the real-time (now) utilization of the Destination Firewall Objects.

Selecting other timeframes is not supported.

The below example assumes that there is already a Virtual IP configured and used on the Firewall Policy.

Add a Widget on the Dashboard

Step 1: Go to Dashboard > Network > Add Widget.

Step 2: Search for ‘destination‘ and select/add ‘FortiView Destination Firewall Objects‘. Then ‘Add Widget‘.

Search for 'destination' and select/add 'FortiView Destination Firewall Objects'. Then 'Add Widget'.

Add Monitor on FortiView

Step 1: Go to Dashboard.

Step 2: Select the ‘+’ sign on FortiView then ‘Add Monitor’.
Select the '+' sign on FortiView then 'Add Monitor'.

Step 3: Search for ‘destination’ and select/add ‘FortiView Destination Firewall Objects’. Then ‘Add Widget’.

Search for 'destination' and select/add 'FortiView Destination Firewall Objects'. Then 'Add Widget'.

Drill Down Details

Step 1: Filter Virtual IP name.

Filter Virtual IP name.

Step 2: Select to drill down or ‘Right click’ and select ‘Drill Down to Details’.

Select to drill down or 'Right click' and select 'Drill Down to Details'.
