This article describes how to troubleshoot the remote backup settings unable to save in GUI while able to do a remote backup using CLI.
Scope
FortiSandbox.
Solution
When doing a remote backup from CLI using ‘backup-sysconf’. It works as the below image shows. The backup configuration file successfully uploads to the backup server.
When trying to schedule a remote backup in GUI, it shows the error below.
This error happens because when selecting ‘Set Remote Backup’, FortiSandbox will send ICMP traffic first to the configured backup server. If the ICMP traffic is blocked in the network or the backup server, FortiSandbox will not be able to save the remote backup settings in the GUI.
To solve the issue, the ICMP traffic should be allowed between FortiSandbox and the backup server for saving the settings.
After saving the remote backup settings, the scheduled remote backup still can work even though the ICMP traffic is disabled.
The system Event log will show the log of the successful scheduled remote backup as per below.
