In the digital world, Sticky Notes have become a convenient tool for jotting down quick thoughts or important information. However, the risk of unintentional deletion can lead to the loss of valuable data.
Activating the delete confirmation feature in Sticky Notes can safeguard your information by providing a warning prompt before any deletion occurs.
Method 1: Activating Delete Confirmation through Registry Editor
The Registry Editor, accessible via the Start menu or the Run prompt, allows you to enable the delete confirmation feature. Here’s how:
- Launch the Registry Editor by typing “Regedit” in the Run prompt.
- Navigate through the following path: Current user > Software > Microsoft > Windows > Current Version > Applets > Sticky Notes.
- Upon clicking the Sticky Notes folder, various system files will be displayed on the right side. The default value for PROMPT_ON_Delete is 0.
- Double-click PROMPT_ON_Delete and modify its value from 0 to 1.
- Save the changes and exit the explorer. From this point forward, a confirmation will be required each time a sticky note is deleted.
Method 2: Enabling Delete Confirmation through Sticky Notes Settings
The Sticky Notes application itself provides an option to enable delete confirmation. Here’s the process:
- Open Sticky Notes and tap the three-dot icon in the upper right corner. Select the List of Notes option.
- Navigate to Settings and activate the Confirm before deleting option.
Upon activation, a prompt will appear asking “Do you want to delete this note” each time a Sticky Note is attempted to be deleted. This serves as a safety net, ensuring that no note is erased without your explicit consent.
