Plugging in a brand-new PS5 Pro? Let’s get it going.
- First, connect all the cables. Power? Check. HDMI? Plugged.
- Now turn it on. The screen you see is a one-time welcome party.
- Grab your controller. Plug in the USB-C cable. Attach the other end to the PS5 Pro.
- Press the PlayStation button on the controller.
- Next up, it asks about language. Pick what you understand.
- Get your Wi-Fi going. Skip this, and updates will drag you down later.
- The screen may seem off-sized. Use the d-pad to fix it. This makes your games pop! Got HDR? Adjust it too.
- Now comes rest mode settings. Choose “Optimized Experience.”
- Agree to the software license. Confirm.
- Time to update. If you’re online, the system software will refresh itself. It’ll restart a few times. Then update your DualSense controller software.
- Log in to your PlayStation Network account. No account? Make one. Skip the QR code if that’s not your style—manual works too.
- What about a passcode? Optional. I skipped it.
- Next, there’s Console Sharing and Offline Play. If another PS5 hogs your PSN, turn it off there first. Otherwise, green light it here.
- Got an old PS5 with data? Transfer now or later. I skipped it.
- Once all this is done, it says, “Welcome to PlayStation 5.”
Now your home menu is ready. Explore, download a game, or dive straight in. Your PS5 Pro is set up and waiting.
