How Do I use Cortana or Alexa Voice Commands to Turn On and Off Xbox One

Now you can use voice commands to turn Xbox One on and off. This feature is on by default, just to make sure power mode is set to Instant-on (System > Settings > Power & startup > Power mode & startup > Power mode).

You can use either Kinect sensor or headset for voice with Cortana but turn on Xbox One only works with Kinect. You can still turn off Xbox One with the headset.

Step 1: Setting up Xbox Skill for Cortana by signing in Xbox One.

Step 2: On Windows 10 PC or Cortana app for iOS or Android, say Hey Cortana, pair my Xbox. and then signing in Microsoft account to link the Xbox skill.

Step 3: Say Hey Cortana.

Step 4: To turn off Xbox One: say Hey Cortana, Xbox off, Turn off my Xbox, Turn off or Go to sleep.

Step 5: To turn on Xbox One: say Hey Cortana, Xbox on, Turn on Xbox, Turn on or Start Xbox.

Step 1: To turn off Xbox One: say Xbox, turn off.

Step 2: To turn on Xbox One: say Xbox on.

Step 1: Set up Xbox skill for Alexa by signing in Xbox.

Step 2: Say Alexa, open Xbox and open Alexa app, or search for Xbox in the Skills section of Alexa app.

Step 3: Select Xbox skill and sign in with Microsoft account.

Step 4: Follow the instructions to discover Xbox One and pair it to Alexa device(s).

Step 5: To turn off Xbox One: say Alexa, tell Xbox to turn off, Alexa, turn Xbox off or Alexa, Xbox off.

Step 6: To turn on Xbox One: say Alexa, tell Xbox to turn on, Alexa, turn Xbox on or Alexa, Xbox on.

Voice commands are not available in all regions.
Xbox skill for Alexa is only supported in the U.S. and U.K.
Xbox skill for Cortana is only supported in the U.S.
