Is Setting Up Passkeys on Facebook the Smartest Way to Stop Hackers?
Passkeys help me log in to Facebook without remembering passwords. I use my face, fingerprint, or a simple PIN. This feels safer and much quicker. Facebook lets me set up passkeys on my iPhone or Android. Messenger will get this soon. I want to show you how I set up passkeys and why it matters.
Why I Chose Passkeys for Facebook
- I don’t need to type passwords anymore.
- Hackers can’t guess my face or fingerprint.
- My phone keeps my passkey safe.
- I can use the same passkey for Facebook and, soon, Messenger.
- Meta Pay and encrypted chats work better with passkeys.
Passwords are easy to forget or steal. Passkeys use what’s already on my phone, like Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN. This makes it much harder for anyone else to get into my account.
How I Set Up Passkeys for Facebook
- Updated my Facebook app to the newest version.
- Opened the app and tapped the Menu (three lines).
- Went to Settings & Privacy, then tapped Settings.
- Found Accounts Center.
- Tapped Password and Security.
- Chose Passkeys and tapped Create Passkey.
- Typed my Facebook password.
- Followed the steps to use my Face ID, Touch ID, or my device PIN.
After I finished, I logged out and logged back in. I used my face, fingerprint, or PIN instead of my password. It worked right away.
If I don’t see passkeys in my app:
- Check for app updates.
- Wait, because Facebook is rolling out this feature slowly.
