Solution 1: Check System Requirements
There are certain requirements of your PC to play the Off The Grid game. Make sure your PC meets all the game requirements available to play the game easily.
Solution 2: Restart Epic Games and PC
Restart your Epic Games and then try to launch the game. If that doesn’t help then simply restart your PC and then check. This will fix the problem in the game and will start the game fresh by clearing any bugs or glitches. Once your system restarts, play the game and check if its get resolved.
Tip: Run Epic Games as an admin and then launch the Off The Grid and check.
Solution 3: Run Off The Grid as Administrator
- Open Epic Game.
- Click on 3 dots icon below the game name.
- Select Manage and then click on Folder icon next to Installation.
- It will open the Game Installation folder. The path is C:\Program Files > Epic Games > OffTheGridRLT8 folder.
- Right-click on start_protected_game.exe file and select Properties option.
- Go to Compatibility tab and tick mark Run this program as an administrator.
- Click on Apply and OK.
- Launch the game from the installation folder, from here itself and check problem fixed or not.
- Also, open folder G01 > Binaries > Win64 folder.
- Right-click on G01Client-Wi64-Shipping.exe file and select Properties option.
- Go to Compatibility tab and tick mark Run this program as an administrator.
- Click on Apply and OK. Now, launch the game and check.
Solution 4: Modify Compatibility Settings of Off The Grid
- If running the game as admin does not work, then check for Disable fullscreen optimizations.
- Also check for Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 8 or Windows 7. Click on Apply and OK.
- Now launch the game from the installation folder and check.
- If that does not work, then open G01 > Binaries > Win64 folder.
- Right-click on G01Client-Win64-Shipping.exe file and select Properties option.
- Go to Compatibility tab and check for Disable fullscreen optimizations.
- Check for Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 8 or Windows 7. Click Apply and OK.
- Now, launch the game and check.
Solution 5: Modify Game Launch Options
- Open Epic Games.
- Click on the 3 dots icon below the game name and select Manage.
- In the Launch Options, type -dx11 and close the tab.
- Launch the game and check if it solves your issue or not.
- If not, then type -dx12 or -d3d12 in Launch Options and check.
Solution 6: Verify Game Files
- Launch Epic Games > choose Library.
- Click on 3 dots icon in the game.
- Choose Manage.
- Click on Verify button next to Verify Files.
- Relaunch the game.
Solution 7: Update Graphics Card Driver
Make sure your graphics card driver are updated so that you can get better performance in the game. Remember, if the drivers are outdated then several kind of issues can occur.
Go through the website of your graphics card manufacturer and check for the latest drivers:

To update NVDIA: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/
Search and select your correct graphics card driver and update it. After updating the graphics card driver, launch Off The Grid and see if your problem is fixed or not.
Solution 8: Run Off The Grid on Dedicated Graphics Card
- In Windows Search, type Graphics Settings and open it.
- Click on Browse and add Off The Grid .exe file.
- To do this, browse to C:\Program Files > Epic Games > OffTheGridRLT8 folder.
- Select start_protected_game.exe file and click on Add.
- After adding, click on Options and select High Performance.
- Click on Save.
- Similarly add G01Client-Win64-Shipping.exe file from C:\Program Files > Epic Games > OffTheGridRLT8 > G01 > Binaries > Win64 folder.
- After adding, click on Options and select High Performance.
- Click on Save.
- Launch the game and check.
Solution 9: Allow Off The Grid Through Firewall
- Click on Start Menu > Enter Windows Defender Firewall.
- Look for Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall and click on it.
- Select Allow another app option.
- Browse to C:\Program Files > Epic Games > OffTheGridRLT8 folder.
- Select start_protected_game.exe file and add it.
- Ensure both Private and Public boxes are ticked.
- Again, click on Allow another app… and browse to C:\Program Files > Epic Games < OffTheGridRLT8 > G01 > Binaries > Win64 folder.
- Select G01Client-Win64-Shipping.exe file and add it. After adding it, make sure both Private and Public is checked.
- Also, allow Off The Grid through antivirus program or disable it for a while.
Solution 10: Update BIOS
If the issue persists, then you should check for your BIOS update. You can update the BIOS through your PC/laptop manufacturer official website. Once you update it, launch the game and check if the issue resolved or not.
Solution 11: Overclock CPU and GPU
This is a temporary fix that can work to lower the load and improve the performance. It’s good idea to overclock your CPU and keep GPU normal. Though, this might not slow the process but still suggested because there can be a core management issue.
Solution 12: Check Graphics Settings
When your graphics settings are not properly setup like texture quality, resolution etc. then it direct impacts the game. And this is where the game can crash or suffer from other issue as it play a vital role. So make sure to setup the settings properly or even lower the graphics settings to avoid the unwanted issue.
Solution 13: Delete OTG Folder Located in Saved Games Folder
Delete all files located in the Saved Game folder here: C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Saved Games\OTG
You’ll have to reset your graphics and game options, but the game will now start.
Note: You will lose the game settings and progress. Hence keep the backup of the folder.
Solution 14: Close Conflicting or Unnecessary Programs
Disconnect external USB drive, mouse, disconnect additional joystick/controllers, multiple monitor connected to PC.
Unplug the Logitech or Thrusmaster racing wheel.
End the task for Afterburner, Rivatuner, hwinfo, Razer Synapse or MSI Dragon Center from Task Manager.
Close all of your tabs to free up RAM and relaunch the game.
Solution 15: Disable Overlays
Disable Discord Overlay
- Launch Discord on your PC. Then click n Gear icon in the app bottom left corner.
- Click on Game Overlay on the left panel and then toggle off the Enable In-Game Overlay.
Disable NVIDIA Overlay
- Open NVIDIA GeForce Experience > Settings > General > Turn off In-Game Overlay.
- Similarly disable overlay in all apps or close all other overlay apps. (GeForce Experience, NVIDIA Shadow Play Overlay, AMD Overlay)
- And then launch the game and check.
Solution 16: Install Visual C++ Files
- Go to Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable latest supported downloads to download and install both x86 and x64 Visual C++ Files.
- Restart your PC.
- Launch the game and see if problem resolved.
Solution 17: Update Windows
- Click on Windows icon and then click on Settings.
- On the left click on Windows Update and then click on Check for updates.
- If any update is available, then Download and install it.
- Restart your PC and then launch the game.
Solution 18: Increase Virtual Memory
- In Windows Search, type view advanced system settings and click on it.
- Go to Advanced tab, under Performance, click on Settings.
- Go to Advanced tab, under Virtual Memory, click on Change.
- Uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drives.
- Select your Windows drive (usually C:).
- Choose Custom size and set the Initial size and Maximum size. Set Initial size: 1.5 x total RAM and Maximum size: 3 x total RAM)
- For example, if your PC installed RAM is 16 GB, then enter the value as follow:
- Initial size (MB): 24576
- Maximum size (MB): 49152
- If your PC installed RAM is 32 GB, then enter the value as follow:
- Initial size (MB): 49152
- Maximum size (MB): 98304
- Click on Set and then OK.
- Restart your computer for the changes to take effect and then check.
Solution 19: Uninstall and Re-install Off The Grid
If nothing seems to work, then uninstal Off The Grid game from your PC. Restart your PC and re-install the game in SSD and then check.
