How do I calibrate HDR for games on my Xbox Series X or S? Let’s dive into this simple guide. Getting HDR settings right can make a huge difference. It boosts contrast, color, and brightness. Imagine diving into a game where every detail pops!
- Go to the Settings. It’s in the top right corner of the home screen.
- Scroll down to General > TV and display options.
- Next up is Advanced video modes. Make sure to turn on allow HDR10. If my monitor can’t handle it, no worries! The system will let me know right away.
- Before starting the calibration, I get my TV or monitor into game mode. Also, I adjust the room lighting to match how I usually play.
- I turn off any picture sharpening settings on my TV. Those can create annoying outlines around things. Not cool when I’m trying to focus on the game.
- Now, I hit next at the bottom of the screen. This brings me to a page with blocks that need adjusting. Using the d-pad, I decrease the darkness until those blocks just vanish.
- Then, I press next again. This time, I want to make sure I can’t see any white blocks. If they’re peeking out, I adjust until they disappear completely.
- On the next screen, there’s another set of blocks. I increase the brightness a bit more until they fade away too.
- Finally, I hit next once more. The screen shows me a comparison between calibrated and uncalibrated images. There’s even a little rundown in the corner explaining what I’ve done.
And just like that, I’ve calibrated HDR on my Xbox Series X|S! If the screen blacks out for a moment during this process, don’t sweat it; it’s all part of the magic.
