Want to cut out silent sections from your audio or video clips without a hassle? Here’s how you can do it in DaVinci Resolve Studio in a few simple steps.
- In DaVinci Resolve Studio, go to your Media Pool.
- Right-click on the video or audio clip you want to edit.
- Select Audio Transcription from the menu.
- Click Transcribe. DaVinci will analyze the clip and create a transcript with pauses marked.
- Once the transcription is done, look at the three dots in the top right corner of the transcript window.
- Choose Remove Silent Portions.
- DaVinci Resolve will cross out the silent parts, showing what’s removed.
- Select any part of the transcript.
- Press Ctrl + A on your keyboard to highlight everything.
- Click the Amend icon in the bottom right corner to apply changes.
- Close the transcript window to see your timeline now updated with the silences removed.
- Play back the clip to ensure no unwanted sections remain. Minor sounds or low background noises may still be detected as audio, but overall, the silent portions should be gone.
Tips:
- Background Noise: If there’s slight noise, DaVinci might not catch it as silence. You may need to tweak these parts manually.
- Short Clips: For shorter clips, this method works quickly. For longer videos, give it some time for better results.
Removing silence helps make your videos flow better, keeping viewers engaged without unnecessary gaps.
