What Happens When You Block Someone on Messenger? Can They Still See Your Facebook Updates?

If someone blocks you on Messenger, they automatically block you on Facebook too. This means they won’t be able to see your story or any other updates you post. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Blocking on Messenger and Facebook is now integrated. In the past, you could block someone on one platform but not the other. Now, blocking them on either platform blocks them on both.
  • If you’re blocked, you can’t see their profile, posts, or story on Facebook. You also can’t message them on Messenger.
  • To block someone on Messenger:
    1. Open the chat with the person
    2. Tap the “i” icon in the top right
    3. Scroll down and tap “Block”
    4. Confirm by tapping “BLOCK [USERNAME]”
  • If you’re blocked, the only way to contact the person is to create a new account. However, this is not recommended as it could be seen as stalking. It’s best to respect their decision and move on.
  • If the person unblocks you, they can’t block you again for 48 hours.
