Understand Hardware ID and Licence structure on FortiClient EMS

Scope

FortiClient EMS on-premises.

Solution

The EMS and the Hardware ID information in the licence file must be the same to be licenced.

Step 1: Go to EMS > Dashboard > Status > Config Licence to access the Hardware ID information of the EMS.

Step 2: To find the Hardware ID defined for the licence, log in to the ‘support.fortinet.com’ portal and then expand the relevant licence under Services > Asset Management > Product List.

Find the Hardware ID defined for the licence

Step 3: To upload the licence to the EMS, the Hardware ID in the licence file must match the Hardware ID on the EMS. If this information does not match, it is possible to get assistance in changing it by contacting the Customer Services Team. After the Hardware ID has changed, it is possible to manually or automatically upload the licence file to the EMS as shown below.
