Question
We have a library of files, stored in internal SharePoint library, that we need to have NOT return in search results of internal users. We’ve been successful in suppressing from SharePoint searches on SharePoint online, but so far unable to prevent search result from appearing when users use the voice or windows search bar (i.e., Cortana). Deindexing it via the SharePoint library didn’t prevent the files from appearing in Cortana search.
Is it possible to suppress a SharePoint library, or an entire SharePoint site from windows and Cortana searches?
Answer
Windows search has its own configuration, where I guess the first step is to really hide it from users and then recreating the index on the client machine. Recreating the local Windows index will delete everything they cached before.
