Solved: How do I identify the true sender email address in iPhone mail app?

Question

I have received the email from an email address that when tapping in the email “displayed” name, instead of showing the actual email address, it shows the same name, no actual email address. How do I see the actual sender email address in my iPhone email app?

Solved: How do I identify the true sender email address in iPhone mail app?

Solution 1: Open email using Safari browser

There is a workaround on iPhone by using iCloud in Safari to open the email.

Step 1: Open the Safari browser and go to iCloud.

Step 2: Open iCloud mail.

Step 3: Select a message.

Step 4: Tap on the arrow in the right upper corner.

Tap on the arrow in the right upper corner.

Step 5: Tap on the Show All Headers option.

Tap on the Show All Headers option.

Solution 2: Forward using copy or move option

It cannot be done in iOS Mail. Neither Apple Mail on iOS or Outlook on iOS support viewing the raw source of the email. You can forward (copy or move) it to another address that supports Show Original or View Raw Header such as Gmail.

Step 1: From the mailbox that message is in, select the message until the lower menu appears, then choose Move Message….

Step 2: Use the Back button located at the upper left corner.

Step 3: Select the iCloud.

Step 4: Click on the Inbox and the message gets moved.

Step 5: View the headers in iCloud mail in Safari.

It’s an additional step and also have to open the web browser within the iPhone but it done work!
