Solution 3: Enable UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) in the Router

Note: Steps may vary depending on the router’s manufacturer.

Step 1: Open the browser and access to Router configuration page, normally the default address is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

Step 2: Log in to the router configuration page. You should be able to login using admin for both username and password if you never changed the default login credentials. If that doesn’t work then search online for specific steps on accessing your router default admin login credential.

Step 3: Look for the UPnP setting in WAN Internet Connection or Forwarding tab in the Router configuration page.

Solution 5: Modify NIC Settings

Step 1: Press the Windows + R key to open the Run box.

Step 2: Type ncpa.cpl then press Enter to open the Network Connection menu.

Step 3: Right-click on the active ethernet network and click on Properties from the context menu.

Step 4: Go to the Networking tab and click on the Configure button.

Step 5: Go to the Advanced tab.

Step 6: Select Large Send Offload v2 (IPv4) from the Property menu, and set the value to Disabled.

Step 7: Select Large Send Offload v2 (IPv6) from the Property menu, and set the value to Disabled.

Step 8: Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck the box beside Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Step 1: Press the Windows + R key to open the Run box.

Step 1: Press the Windows key + R to open the Run box.

Step 2: Type ncpa.cpl and press Enter to open the Network Connections menu.

Step 3: Right-click on the network that you are using and click on Properties from the context menu.

Step 4: Go to the Networking tab.

Step 5: Go to the module under This connection uses the following items, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and click on the Properties button.

Step 6: Click on the General tab, select Use the following DNS server address and set 8.8.8.8 for Preference DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for Alternate DNS server, click on the OK button to save the changes.

Step 7: Select Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and click on the Properties button.

Step 8: Select Use the following DNS server address and set 2001:4860:4860::8888 for Preference DNS Server and 2001:4860:4860::8844 for Alternate DNS server, click on the OK button to save the changes.

Step 9: Restart your PC.

Use Google DNS on PS4

Step 1: On the main dashboard menu of PS4, go to the Settings > Network > Set up Internet Connection and press X to get started.

Step 2: Select either Wi-Fi or LAN.

Step 3: Choose Custom from the list of available options

Step 4: Set the IP Address to Automatically.

Step 5: Set DHCP Host Name to Do Not Specify.

Step 6: Set DNS Settings to Manual, change the Primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and the Secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4.

Step 7: Save the changes then restart the console.

Solution 10: Force to Ignore UPnP

Step 1: Open File Explorer > My Documents > My Game > FF14 folder.

Step 2: Right-click on FFXIV.cfg and choose Open with > Notepad from the context menu.

Step 3: Locate the Network Settings in the list, change the value of UPnP from 1 to 0 then save the changes.

Solution 11: Modify Internet Explorer Settings

The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet.

Step 1: Open the Internet Explorer.

Step 2: Go to Tools > Internet Options and change the following settings:

  • Go to General tab, delete ALL browser history.
  • Go to Security tab, change the Security Level to the lowest possible settings or no higher than Medium.
  • Go to Privacy tab, click the Advanced button and select Accept for First-party Cookies and Third-party Cookies.
  • Go to Advanced tab, check the Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid, Use TLS 1.0, 1.1, 1.2. Use SSL 3.0 should be unchecked.

Step 3: Click on the Apply button to save the settings.

Step 4: Click the OK button to close the Internet Options menu.

Step 5: Right-click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select Properties.

Step 6: Go to the Compatibility tab, and change the Compatibility mode to Windows 7.

Step 7: Click on the Apply button, then the OK button to save the changes.

Step 8: Restart your PC.

Step 9: Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon and select the Run as Administrator option to start the game.
