Microsoft Message

Starting January 11, 2026, Microsoft Fabric will begin removing inactive legacy staging warehouse artifacts from workspaces. This process will complete by January 31, 2026.

These artifacts were created by historic system events and replaced by a new warehouse architecture. They are no longer used by Dataflows GEN2 with CI/CD support. This is not a feature retirement—your dataflows and refresh operations will continue to work as expected.

Scope

  • Applies only to Dataflows GEN2 with CI/CD support.
  • Does not affect other dataflow types.

When this will happen

This change will be implemented starting January 11, 2026.

How this will affect your organization

Our reporting indicates your organization has one or more workspaces containing these legacy artifacts. They are harmless and hidden in the UI. However, if you have stored data in them through unsupported methods, that data will be deleted during cleanup.

Cleanup will start on January 11, 2026, to align your workspace state with current usage. No impact is expected to dataflows or refresh operations.

What you need to do to prepare

  • No admin action is required unless you have data stored in these artifacts.
  • If so, move that data to a supported Warehouse or Lakehouse before January 11, 2026.
  • Notify users, update documentation if needed, and share guidance on supported storage options.
