Redesigned Privacy Dashboard
Vivaldi 7.7 features a redesigned Privacy Dashboard that offers a cleaner and clearer view of your online protection. The browser includes a built-in ad and tracker blocker, and the new dashboard displays statistics about the content it has blocked. This information is now accessible through a widget on the Start Page. The dashboard allows you to see per-site blocking information and manage exceptions for specific websites.
Improved Tab Sync Across Devices
The tab synchronization feature has been significantly enhanced, allowing you to access open tabs from your other devices with less effort. You will need to be signed into your Vivaldi account to use this feature. Once signed in, the Windows and Tabs panel on the sidebar will show your connected devices. Vivaldi now preserves the structure of your tabs, including Workspaces and Tab Stacks, providing a consistent experience when you move between different computers. You can right-click on a device or window name to open all of its tabs, copy the tab links, or save them as bookmarks.
New Performance Settings
A new “Performance” section has been added to the browser’s settings, giving you more control over how Vivaldi runs. This page allows you to:
- Toggle hardware acceleration.
- Customize the energy saver, which can be set to turn on automatically when your battery is low or when your device is running on battery power.
- Configure the memory saver, which helps reduce memory usage by hibernating inactive tabs.
- Set up lazy loading for tabs on startup.
- Toggle prefetching of resources to speed up page loading times.
Unified Start Page
The Start Page has been updated to allow Widgets and Speed Dials to be on the same page. You can add, drag, resize, and organize widgets within your Speed Dial folders, creating a more unified and customizable dashboard.
Other Notable Updates
Vivaldi 7.7 also includes a revamped “About” page with a modern look and easier access to information. The design of the mail panel has also been tweaked to improve readability and usability. The browser has also been updated to Chromium 142.0.7444.180, which includes important security fixes.
