Why Is Your Brand New OnePlus 13s Showing Green Lines Already?
The OnePlus 13s hit stores in India just weeks ago. But there’s already troubling news. A user on Reddit shared photos showing a green line across their brand new phone’s screen.
This person bought their OnePlus 13s recently. The green line showed up for a few seconds, then went away. But the next day, it came back and stayed there until they restarted the phone.
What makes this even more frustrating? When they took it to the OnePlus service center, staff said they couldn’t replace the phone right away. Why? Because their video didn’t show the phone’s IMEI number.
The service center kept the phone for two whole hours just to get logs. Then they told the customer to watch for more problems. But here’s the worst part – OnePlus only gives you 15 days to replace a new phone.
What Causes These Green Lines?
Green lines happen when AMOLED screens break down inside. The tiny pixels that make your screen light up can stop working right. When this happens, you see strange lines or weird colors.
Some experts say short circuits in the display drivers cause this problem. This can happen from:
- Water getting inside your phone
- Dropping your phone
- Just normal wear over time
The bad news? Software updates can’t fix this. You need a whole new screen.
OnePlus Has a Solution (But It’s Not Perfect)
OnePlus knows about this problem. In December 2024, they started offering something called a “lifetime display warranty” for Indian customers.
Here’s what this warranty covers:
- Free screen replacement for green line problems
- Works on all OnePlus phones sold in India
- No hidden costs
But there’s a catch:
- Only works for 5 years after your phone launched
- Doesn’t cover damage you caused yourself
- Service centers decide if your damage counts
OnePlus 12 Gets Some Good News
While OnePlus 13s users deal with screen problems, OnePlus 12 owners got something nice. The new OxygenOS 15.0.0.840 update brought “bypass charging”.
What does bypass charging do?
- When you’re gaming and charging, power goes straight to your phone’s parts
- Doesn’t heat up your battery as much
- Might make your battery last longer
You can find this feature in your Game Center settings when playing games.
Should You Worry About Buying OnePlus?
This green line problem isn’t new for OnePlus. Many of their older phones had the same issue. Other phone brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, and Realme also have this problem.
The good news: Only one person has reported this problem with the OnePlus 13s so far. Since the phone just came out, we’ll need to wait and see if more people have this issue.
The not-so-good news: Even with lifetime warranties, getting help isn’t always easy. Service centers can make you jump through hoops before they’ll fix your phone.
If you’re thinking about buying a OnePlus phone, make sure you understand their warranty. Take photos and videos if you see any problems. And remember – you only have 15 days to get a replacement for a brand new phone.
The green line issue shows that even the newest, most expensive phones can have problems right out of the box. OnePlus is trying to fix this with better technology and warranties. But for now, some customers are stuck dealing with broken screens on phones they just bought.
