- Open the Run dialog box using Windows + R, type mdsched.exe, and press Enter. Alternatively, search for “Windows Memory Diagnostic” in the Start menu or Control Panel.
- Select Restart now and check for problems to test immediately or pick Check for problems the next time I start my computer to schedule the test.
- Before restarting, close all programs and save your files.
- After the restart, the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool begins automatically in Standard mode.
- For Advanced options, press F1 during the test to access settings such as:
- Test mix: Basic, Standard, or Extended.
- Cache: Default, On, or Off.
- Pass count: Number of times the test repeats.
- Once completed, the computer restarts, and results may display as a notification.
- If not, access the Event Viewer.
- Press Windows + S, type “Event Viewer,” and open it.
- Navigate to Windows Logs > System, and search for “MemoryDiagnostics-Results” to view details.
Tips:
- If errors are found, reseat or replace your RAM as needed.
- Always back up your data before testing to avoid losing important files
