This article describes verifying the correct upgrade path for devices running on special builds.
Scope
FortiGate.
Solution
Some hardware models are released on a special branch/build.
For example, the following hardware is running on v6.4.6, build 6083.
FortiGate-40F.
FortiGate-41F.
FortiGate-60F.
FortiGate-61F.
FortiGate-80F.
FortiGate-81F.
FortiGate-100F.
FortiGate-101F.
When verifying the upgrade path, use the upgrade path tool. Only the general build number will be available.
The general build for 6.4.6 is 1879. To confirm if the device is running the correct build, run the CLI command ‘get system status’. The branch point field value should show 1879.
Sample command output:
FGT_TEST_FW01 # get sys status Version: FortiGate-80F v6.4.6,build6083,210729 (GA) Firmware Signature: certified Virus-DB: 90.08724(2022-12-14 08:20) Extended DB: 90.08724(2022-12-14 08:19) IPS-DB: 22.00456(2022-12-13 02:26) IPS-ETDB: 0.00000(2001-01-01 00:00) APP-DB: 22.00456(2022-12-13 02:26) INDUSTRIAL-DB: 22.00454(2022-12-08 00:58) Serial-Number: FGT80FTK12345678 IPS Malicious URL Database: 4.00559(2022-12-13 12:51) BIOS version: 05000025 System Part-Number: P25604-20 Log hard disk: Not available Hostname: FGT_CARLSONCRT_FW01 Private Encryption: Disable Operation Mode: NAT Current virtual domain: root Max number of virtual domains: 10 Virtual domains status: 1 in NAT mode, 0 in TP mode Virtual domain configuration: disable FIPS-CC mode: disable Current HA mode: a-p, primary Cluster uptime: 219 days, 0 hours, 56 minutes, 29 seconds Cluster state change time: 2022-09-29 07:05:30 Branch point: 1879 Release Version Information: GA System time: Wed Dec 14 13:27:10 2022
