How to summarize entire folders in Google Drive with Gemini?

There are three ways to request a summary of an entire Google Drive folder.

  1. Navigate to a Google Drive folder and click the new “Summarize this folder” button.
  2. You can also do this from the document list outside the folder. Right-click a folder to see the “Summarize this folder” option in the context menu.
  3. Alternatively, open the Ask Gemini panel and drag a folder into it.

The folder summary will appear in a sidebar. You can then enter additional queries, such as “Summarize files in @-folder” or “What is the theme of the content in @-folder?”

For now, Gemini can only provide information about text documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, and presentations. It can also answer questions about photos.
