Why Does Zoom.exe Entry Point Not Found Keep Happening? Easy Fixes for a Smooth Experience
When I try to use Zoom and see the “Entry Point Not Found” error, it usually means my computer can’t find a file Zoom needs to work. This file is called a DLL, and Zoom uses many of them to run. If one is missing or doesn’t match what Zoom expects, Zoom can’t start. This can happen if Zoom is broken, if the version doesn’t fit my Windows, or if some other software piece is missing.
Simple Steps to Fix the “Zoom.exe Entry Point Not Found” Error
Solution 1: Remove and Reinstall Zoom
Sometimes, Zoom gets broken. I fix this by removing Zoom and putting it back.
- Open Settings on my computer.
- Go to “Apps” and then “Installed apps.”
- Find Zoom, click the three dots next to it, and choose “Uninstall.”
- Press “Windows + R” to open the Run box.
- Type %appdata%/Zoom and press Enter.
- Delete everything in that folder.
- Then, download the latest Zoom installer from the Zoom website.
- Run the installer. Now, Zoom should work.
Solution 2: Install an Older Version of Zoom
If the newest Zoom doesn’t work, it might not fit my Windows. I can use an older Zoom version.
- Press “Windows + R,” type appwiz.cpl, and hit Enter.
- Find Zoom in the list, right-click it, and choose “Uninstall.”
- Make sure not to install the same version again.
- Look online for an older Zoom version, like 6.4.3 or 6.4.12.
- Download and install that version.
- Now, try Zoom again.
Solution 3: Repair Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable
Zoom needs special Microsoft files to run. If these files are broken, Zoom can’t start.
- Press “Windows + R,” type appwiz.cpl, and press Enter.
- Look for “Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable” in the list.
- Right-click each one, choose “Change,” and then “Repair.”
- Do this for every redistributable I see.
If I can’t repair one, I uninstall it.
- Go to Microsoft’s website and download the latest redistributable packages.
- Install them and restart my computer.
Solution 4: Update Zoom
Sometimes, Zoom just needs an update.
- Open Zoom.
- Click my profile picture.
- Choose “Check for Updates.”
- If there’s an update, I let it finish.
- Restart Zoom.
Extra Tips
- If none of these steps work, I check if my Windows needs updates.
- I make sure my computer has no viruses.
- I restart my computer after each fix.
I keep my steps short and clear. I don’t use hard words. If I follow these steps, Zoom should work again. If not, I ask for help from someone who knows computers well.
