How to Resolve inZOI Compatibility Issue “DirectX 12 is not supported on your system” Error

Are you struggling to launch inZOI due to a DirectX 12 compatibility issue? Don’t worry; this guide will walk you through the steps to fix the problem and get you back in the game.

The detail error message as below:

DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument.

Solution 1: Restart Steam and PC

Restart your Steam and then try to launch the game. If that doesn’t help then simply restart your PC and then check.

Solution 2: Check your DirectX version

  1. Open the Run dialog box by pressing Windows key + R.
  2. Type “dxdiag” and click OK.
  3. Look for the “DirectX Version” at the bottom of the System tab.
  4. If it says “DirectX 12,” proceed to the next step; if not, update your Windows to the latest version.

Solution 3: Ensure your graphics card supports DirectX 12

InZOI requires a dedicated graphics card that supports DirectX 12. If you only have an integrated graphics card, you may experience compatibility issues. However, the game developers are working on a fix to make inZOI playable on integrated graphics cards in the future.

Solution 4: Install DirectX 12

Go to Microsoft DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer. Download and install the DirectX and try launching the game.

Solution 5: Try running the game with DirextX 11

  1. Open the game installation folder and look for file such as config.ini or settings.ini
  2. Look for setting such as DirectXVersion or something related.
  3. Here, change the value to 11. For example, DirectXVersion=11.
  4. Save the file, launch the game again and check.

Solution 6: Add inZOI exe file to exploit protection

  1. In Windows Search, search and open Exploit Protection.
  2. Go to the Programme settings and click on Add programme to customize > Choose exact file path.
  3. Browse to C:\Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > inZOI > inZOI_Character_Studio > Binaries > Win64 folder and add the BlueClient-Win64-Shipping.exe file.
  4. Scroll down and look for Control flow guard (CFG).
  5. Check the Override system settings box and disable the below toggle.
  6. If the issue persists, browse to C:\Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > inZOI and add the BlueClient.exe file then try again.

Solution 7: Run inZOI as Administrator

  1. Open Steam > Library.
  2. Right-click on inZOI: Character Studio and click on Mange > Browse local files to open the game installation file. The path is C:\Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > inZOI folder.
  3. Right-click on BlueClient.exe and select Properties option from the context menu.
  4. Go to Compatibility tab and check for Run this program as an administrator.
  5. Click on Apply then OK.
  6. Launch the game from the installation folder to check problem solved or not.
  7. If not then browse to C:\Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > inZOI > inZOI_Character_Studio > Binaries > Win64 folder.
  8. Right-click on BlueClient-Win64-Shipping.exe and select Properties option from the context menu.
  9. Go to Compatibility tab and check for Run this program as an administrator.
  10. Click on Apply then OK.
  11. Launch the game from the installation folder to check problem solved or not.

Solution 8: Modify Compatibility Settings of inZOI

  1. If running the game as admin does not work, then check for Disable fullscreen optimization for BlueClient.
  2. Also, check for Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 8 or Window 7.
  3. Click on Apply and OK.
  4. Launch the game from installation folder and check.
  5. If not then browse to C:\Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > inZOI > inZOI_Character_Studio > Binaries > Win64 folder.
  6. Right-click on BlueClient-Win64-Shipping.exe and select Properties option from the context menu.
  7. Go to Compatibility tab and check for Disable fullscreen optimization.
  8. Check also Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 8 or Window 7.
  9. Click on Apply and OK.
  10. Launch the game from the installation folder to check problem solved or not.

Solution 9: Allow inZOI through Firewall/Antivirus

  1. In Windows Search type Windows Security and click on it.
  2. Click on Firewall and network protection and then click on Allow an app through firewall.
  3. Click on Change settings and then Allow another app.
  4. Click on Browse and add inZOI.exe file.
  5. Browse to C:\Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > inZOI folder.
  6. Select BlueClient.exe and add it to the list.
  7. Again click on Browse and browse to C:\Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > inZOI > inZOI_Character_Studio > Binaries > Win64 folder.
  8. Select BlueClient-Win64-Shipping.exe and add it to the list.
  9. After adding it, make sure both Private and Public is checked.

Solution 10: Close Conflicting/Unnecessary Programs

  • Disconnect external USB drive, mouse, disconnect additional joystick/controllers, multiple monitor connected to PC.
  • Unplug the Logitech or Thrustmaster racing wheel.
  • End the task for Razer Synapse or MSI Dragon Center from Task Manager.
  • Close all of your tabs to free up RAM and relaunch the game.

Solution 11: Modify game launch options

  1. Open Steam.
  2. Right-click on inZOI: Character Studio and select Properties.
  3. In the Launch Options, type “-dx11” and close the tab.
  4. Now, launch the game and check if it solves your issue or not.
  5. If not, then type “-dx12” or “-windowed” in Launch Options and then check.

Solution 12: Disable overlays

Disable Steam Overlay

Go to your Steam Library > right-click Bodycam > Properties > Turn off “Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game“.

Disable Discord Overlay

Launch Discord on PC. Then click on Gear icon in the app botton left corner. Click on Game Overlay option on the left panel and then toggle off the “Enable In-Game Overlay“.

Disable NVIDIA Overlay

Open NVIDIA GeForce Experience > Settings > General > Turn off “In-Game Overlay“.

Similarly disable overlay in all apps or close all other overlay apps. (GeForce Experience, NVIDIA Shadow Play Overlay, AMD Overlay) and then launch the game and check.

Solution 13: Update your graphics card drivers

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Expand the “Display adapters” section.
  3. Note down your graphics card model (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel).
  4. Update your drivers:
  5. Restart your computer after installing the latest drivers.

Solution 14: Run inZOI on dedicated graphics card

  1. Open Graphics Settings.
  2. Tap on Browsr and add inZOI.exe file by going to C:\Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > inZOI folder.
  3. Choose BlueClient.exe file and tap on Add option.
  4. After adding, click on Options and select High Performance under Graphics Preference and Save it.
  5. Similarly add BlueClient-Win64-Shipping.exe file from C:\Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > inZOI > inZOI_Character_Studio > Binaries > Win64 folder.
  6. After adding, click on Options and select High Performance under Graphics Preference and Save it.
  7. Launch the game and check the issue.

Solution 15: Install Visual C++

  1. Download and install the latest version of Visual C++ at Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable latest supported downloads page.
  2. Restart PC.
  3. Check if you can play it without any problem.

Solution 16: Clear download cache

  1. Go to Steam Settings > Downloads and click “Clear Download Cache.”
  2. Restart Steam and check for updates.

Solution 17: Verify Integrity of Game Files

  1. In Steam Library, right-click on inZOI: Character Studio.
  2. Go to Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.
