How to fix fraffic flow impacted on NP7 platforms with ‘inbandwidth’ and ‘outbandwidth’ settings enabled on interface

This article describes an issue that impacts the traffic flow on NP7 platforms with inbandwidth and outbandwidth configured on an interface.

Scope

FortiOS 7.2.6 +.
FortiOS 7.6.0.

Solution

To limit bandwidth at the interface level, inbandwidth and outbandwidth are enabled on the interface as shown below:

config system interface
edit wan1
set inbandwidth 200000
set outbandwidth 200000
end

On FortiGates with NP7 chipset, when these commands are enabled, traffic loss has been observed.

Run the below-listed commands 5 to 8 times during the time of the issue and share the log file with FortiOS TAC for further investigation/troubleshooting:
