Sword Dance Location in Elden Ring
Sword Dance is an Ash of War that boosts non-unique weapons. You can get it by killing the Teardrop Scarab near the Minor Erdtree in western Liurnia of the Lake. From the Erdtree, go north and take the narrow path west to Road’s End. You’ll find the Scarab there.
If the Scarab escapes, it will respawn when you rest at a Site of Grace. There’s one close by in a dungeon. You can’t farm Sword Dance from the Scarab, though. You need Lost Ashes of War from Smithing Master Hewg at the Roundtable Hold.
Sword Dance Compatible Weapons in Elden Ring
Sword Dance works with sword, axe, and polearm weapons that slash. It doesn’t work with Colossal or Great Spear weapons, even if they slash. You can check your weapon type under its name, or see if it matches Sword Dance at a Site of Grace under “Ashes of War”. Sword Dance adds the Keen trait to your weapon, but you can change it with Whetblades like the Whetstone Knive.
Sword Dance is a series of upward slashes that use some FP. You can end it with a powerful overhead slam, but it’s slow and short-ranged. Both moves push you forward a lot.
Sword Dance is versatile and can be used with heavy weapons like Reapers and Halberds. But it’s slower on them. Even Twinblades are slower than Straight Swords or Axes with Sword Dance. Still, Sword Dance improves weapons with slow or narrow attacks. And all weapons move the same distance with Sword Dance, no matter how big or heavy they are. So it’s great for mobility.
Why Sword Dance is a Must-Have Skill in Elden Ring
Sword Dance is an Ash of War that makes your weapons faster and wider. It does little Poise damage, but it can hit PvP players from the side and move you forward. It’s a good Skill for PvP. In PvE, Sword Dance does a lot of damage, especially with Blackflame or similar buffs.
Sword Dance is better with smaller weapons in PvP. They have longer and flexible animations with Sword Dance. They are fast and tricky to dodge. You can use them with buffs or as backup weapons. Heavier weapons are slower and riskier with Sword Dance. They are easy to parry or interrupt. But they can still surprise your enemies with the big step and long reach. They can make a slow Strength weapon a quick burst option.
Sword Dance is always useful in PvE. Enemies and bosses don’t parry much, so you can spam Sword Dance with Bloodflame or Blackflame weapons. You can do a lot of damage over time with the fast spins. You can also hit bosses that are hard to reach with slower weapons, like Malenia.
