Struggling with HEIF/HEIC Files? Here’s How to Save Them as JPGs!
Change Future Photos to JPG Format
If you want your iPhone to stop saving photos as HEIF/HEIC:
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap Camera.
- Select Formats.
- Under “Camera Capture,” choose Most Compatible.
This ensures all new photos are saved as JPGs instead of HEIC.
Convert Existing HEIF/HEIC Photos to JPG
For photos already saved in HEIF/HEIC format:
Save the Photo to Files:
- Open the photo in the Photos app.
- Tap Select (top-right corner) and choose the photo(s).
- Press the Share button (bottom-left corner).
- Scroll down and tap Save to Files.
- Choose a folder and save it.
Export as JPG in Files App:
- Open the Files app and locate your saved photo.
- Tap and hold on the file, then select Rename or tap the file name at the top.
- Choose Export from the options that pop up.
- In the format menu, select JPEG (JPG).
Save Back to Photos:
- After exporting, press the Share button again in Files.
- Tap Save Image, and it will appear in your Photos app as a JPG file.
HEIF/HEIC files save space but can be tricky for compatibility with older devices or apps. Converting them ensures you can share or use your photos without issues.
Quick Tips
- Always check your settings if you frequently need JPGs for work or sharing.
- Use third-party apps if you need bulk conversions, but this method works perfectly for one-off tasks!
This process is straightforward once you try it, and you’ll never feel stuck with incompatible formats again!
