Managing the power for Xbox controller is important for uninterrupted gaming sessions. Microsoft’s Xbox controllers are fully compatible with Windows PCs. To ensure controller doesn’t lose power at critical moment, it’s important to know how to monitor and recharge its battery.

How to charge Xbox Controller through PC

For Xbox One controllers, simply connect micro-USB cable to controller and PC. The charging process will commence immediately.

For Xbox Series X|S, Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, or Xbox Adaptive Controllers should use USB-C cable for charging.

How to check Xbox Controller battery level on PC

To view your controller’s battery level on a PC, press the Xbox Button to access the home screen. Look for the battery icon in the bottom right corner, which also displays the current time. Note that the battery level is hidden when the controller is connected via USB, indicated by a plug symbol over the battery icon.

  1. Activate the Game Bar by pressing Windows + G.
