When Google’s AI reads you a summary, the original website doesn’t get a visitor. This can cause several problems for publishers:
- Loss of Traffic: Fewer visitors mean lower numbers, which can hurt a site’s reputation and search ranking over time.

The rise of AI-driven summaries means that content strategies need to evolve. Publishers cannot stop this trend, but they can adjust their approach to stay relevant and maintain their audience.
First, make your content essential. The AI summary will only provide the basic facts. Your full article should offer much more. Include unique insights, expert opinions, detailed data, helpful images, or personal experiences that an AI summary cannot replicate. Give people a reason to click through and read the whole story.
