WhatsApp “unable to connect to the internet. Please try again later” error is one of the most common error message that most of the WhatsApp users complain about. Here are some primary reasons for this error message to pop-up and discuss a few possible fixes if you ever happen to face this issue.

One of the most common reasons for WhatsApp to show this error message is due to poor internet connection or no connection at all. Check your mobile data settings and make sure that you’ve an active data plan or connected to a Wi-Fi network before accessing WhatsApp. Also, make sure that you’re within a good network range if you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Try to connect to different Wi-Fi networks and see if it works when you cannot connect to the internet through your mobile data.

Additionally, a few mobile service providers seem to block chat applications. So, it’s better to contact your mobile service provider and ask for a different access point settings to run these apps smoothly.

Furthermore, if you’re facing any network dropping issues while connected to Wi-Fi, head to Settings > Wi-Fi > Advanced Settings and then make sure that “Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep” is set to On Always.

If all the above fail, restart your smartphone and see if it works now. Even on doing so, if your smartphone shows the error message then probably WhatsApp servers are down. There’s nothing much you can do at this stage, just wait for a while and check once again.
