Is Gemini’s New File Move Feature in Google Drive a Positive Change?
I use Google Drive every day. Sometimes, I get lost in my folders. Files pile up. I want to move them, but it takes time. Now, Gemini helps me. Gemini is Google’s smart helper. It sits in the sidebar of Drive. It listens to what I type. It does what I ask.
On July 7, Gemini got better. I can now tell it to move files. I can ask it to make new folders. I can even start a new Doc or Slide. I just type what I want. Gemini understands.
How I Move Files with Gemini
Here’s what I do:
- Pick up to five files in Drive.
- Open Gemini on the side.
- Type something like, “Move the Q1 wrap up file from my Q1 forecast folder to the Q2 forecast folder.”
- Gemini moves the files for me.
I can also say, “Make a new folder called Q2 forecast.” Gemini makes it. I can say, “Start a new presentation in Q2 forecast.” Gemini does that too.
What Gemini Understands
Gemini is smart. It knows what I mean, even if I use plain words. Here’s what it can do:
- Move files to any folder I name
- Make new folders
- Start new Docs, Sheets, or Slides
I use simple words. Gemini figures it out. If I want to move files, I just say so. If I want a folder, I ask for it. No need for hard steps.
Why This Helps Me
I used to click a lot to move files. I had to drag and drop. I had to search for folders. Now, I just type. Gemini does the hard part. I save time. I feel less stressed. My files are where I want them.
Right now, I can only move five files at once. That’s okay. It still helps me. I hope soon I can move more.
Google gives this to Workspace Business and Enterprise users. If I have Gemini Education or the AI Premium add-on, I get it too. The update is coming out over a few weeks. If I don’t see it yet, I just wait.
Gemini in Docs and Gmail
Gemini is not just in Drive. It’s in Docs and Gmail too. I can use my custom AI “Gems” in the side panel. I don’t need to leave my work. I stay in one place. I get more done.
If you use Google Drive, try Gemini. Type what you want. See how it helps. Start with small things, like moving one file. Then try more. It makes work easier. It makes me smile. I feel happy with this update. It saves me time. It keeps my files neat. I think you’ll like it too.
