Are Nothing’s Unwanted Pre-Installed Apps a Disappointing Mistake?

Is This Simple Guide Your Ultimate Answer to Frustrating Bloatware on the Nothing Phone?

Nothing once promised its phones would be different. They would not come filled with extra apps, often called bloatware, that you did not ask for. This made many customers happy and built trust in the brand. People who bought their phones liked the clean, simple experience.

That promise seems to have changed.

What Changed with the New Phone?

The company’s newest phone, the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite, now comes with pre-installed apps from other companies. This is a big shift from their “no bloatware” rule. The idea of getting extra money by adding these apps is common for companies that sell less expensive phones. It helps them keep the price of the phone low. But for Nothing, a company that built its name on being different, this change could upset the very users who supported them from the start.

The Problematic Apps

Early tests of the new phone found several apps that were not there before. Some of these can be removed, but others cannot.

  • Apps you can uninstall: Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok were found on the test phones. While many people use these apps, the choice to install them was taken away from the user.
  • Apps you cannot uninstall: Three other apps related to Meta (Facebook’s parent company) were also on the phone: Meta App Installer, Meta App Manager, and Meta Services. You cannot remove these apps through the normal uninstallation process. You can only “disable” them, which means they are turned off but still take up space on your device.

This is the main problem. The permanent apps go against the trust Nothing built. Customers who chose Nothing for its clean software may now feel let down. It makes you wonder if future, more expensive Nothing phones will also come with these permanent apps. This uncertainty might make people think twice before buying a Nothing phone again.
