Solved: Calendars in O365 Outlook desktop version shown different languages

Troubleshooting Question

We’ve thoroughly checked the settings in both Outlook Web App (OWA) and the desktop version of Outlook, but we’re still encountering an issue where calendars are displayed in different languages. For instance, it shows “Kalender” in Danish and “Calendar” in English. What might we be overlooking in resolving this language inconsistency?

Solution: Changing the Language of a Shared Mailbox in Exchange Online Using PowerShell

To modify the language of a shared mailbox in Exchange Online, follow these steps:

Step 1: Connect to Exchange Online: First, establish a connection to Exchange Online using PowerShell. You can do this by running the following command:

Step 2: Change the Language: Specify your preferred language by executing the following command:

Set-MailboxRegionalConfiguration -Identity <user ID> -LocalizeDefaultFolderName:$true -Language en-US

Note: Replace <user ID> with the actual user ID of the mailbox you want to change. Also, ensure you use the appropriate language code (e.g., “en-US” for English) as per RFC 4646 specifications.

Step 3: Verification: To confirm the language change, you can run the command:

Get-MailboxRegionalConfiguration -Identity <user ID>

Now, the language of the shared mailbox has been successfully updated to your specified preference.
