Solution 1: Check Server Status
Before troubleshooting, ensure Battle.net servers are not down. Check the BlizzardCS Twitter or use platforms like DownDetector for real-time server updates.
Solution 2: Update Network Settings
- Press Windows Key, type “Network Connections,” and open it.
- Right-click your active network (Ethernet or Wi-Fi) and select Properties.
- Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
- Choose “Use the following DNS server addresses” and enter:
- Preferred DNS: 1.1.1.1
- Alternate DNS: 1.0.0.1
- Save changes and test the connection.
Solution 3: Flush DNS Cache
- Open the Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
- If needed, also try ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew.
Solution 4: Restart Your Router
Power off your router for at least 30 seconds, then turn it back on. This can refresh your connection and resolve temporary network issues.
Solution 5: Close Bandwidth-Hungry Apps
Open Task Manager and end processes consuming excessive bandwidth. Examples include streaming apps or background downloads.
Solution 6: Switch to a Wired Connection
If possible, use a direct Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi to ensure a stable connection.
Solution 7: Update Drivers
Navigate to Device Manager, find your network adapter, and update its drivers to the latest version.
Solution 8: Change Download Region
In the Battle.net launcher, go to Settings and change the game download region to a less crowded server.
Solution 9: Check Windows Troubleshooter
Go to Settings > Troubleshoot > Other Troubleshooters, and run the Internet Connections troubleshooter.
