T-Mobile Released Android 5.0 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy S 5

Beginning February 18, the Samsung Galaxy S 5 will have a software update to Android version 5.0/ Baseband G900TUVU1DOB1 via OTA notification and update over Wi-Fi or Samsung Kies.

This update provides new features included Android 5.0 and activates Wi-Fi calling 2.0 together with improvements included Wi-Fi calling experience, Resolved Wi-Fi calling one way audio and Resolved IPv6 email setup.

Check the software version

Step 1: From the Home screen, tap Settings.

Step 2: Tap About device.

Step 3: Read the Baseband version on the phone, and check it below:
G900TUVU1DOB1: Your software is up to date. There are no updates available.
G900TUVU1CNK2, G900TUVU1BNH5, G900TUVU1BNG4, G900TUVU1BNG3, G900TUVU1BNF6, G900TUVU1ANE6, G900TUVU1ANE5, G900TUVU1ANCH, G900TUVU1ANCD: Your phone can update to software version G900TUVU1DOB1.
Other versions: Phone has non-T-Mobile software, and it is unsupported.

  • 50% or higher battery life
  • Wi-Fi connection
  • File size is 939.59 MB

Update automatically Over-The-Air (OTA)

Note: You must be connected to Wi-Fi prior to completing the following.

Step 1: From the Home screen, tap Settings > About device > Software update.

Step 2: Tap Ok to check for the update.

Update software from the phone

Note: You must be connected to Wi-Fi prior to completing the following.

Step 1: From the home screen, tap SettingsAbout device > Software update > OK > Start.

Step 2: A restart message will appear, tap OK.

Update software from a computer

Installing Kies

Step 1: Download the most recent version of Kies by visiting http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/ (Select the SAMSUNG Kies version compatible with the PC)

Step 2: Double click the Kies file. The program will self extract, no action is required

Step 3: Select the desired Language and LocationNext.

Step 4: Read the license agreement, check the box for “I accept…” and click Next.

Step 5: Kies will begin the installation. No action is required.

Step 6: When the process is complete, click Finish.

Prepare the Samsung Galaxy S 5

Step 1: From the home screen, tap Settings

Step 2: Tap Developer options, if available. If not available, skip to step 8.

Step 3: Tap Ok

Step 4: Tap USB Debugging

Step 5: Tap the Home key to exit the settings menu.

Step 6: Insert the USB data cable into the phone and then into an available port on the computer.

Step 7: Select Media device(MTP) at the phone prompt. The PC should recognize several devices and begin installation. This is normal and may take a few minutes.

Step 8: Unplug the data cable when completed.

Update the Samsung Galaxy S 5

Step 1: Open the Samsung Kies application.

Step 2: Allow the application to detect the device and display an available update notification.

Step 3: Follow the on screen prompts to complete the update.
Note: Using Samsung Kies to update the device software is support by Samsung. If there are any questions about the update process via Kies, escalate to Samsung for further assistance.
